Tears began as I watched the video of the 104-year-old veteran playing the violin for his comrades on Memorial Day. But the sadness I felt gripping my stomach was for the images of little children, elderly, and women fleeing, being shot, or starving in the Sudan, in Gaza, in Ukraine, in Myanamar, and now in the USA.
How long will we remain silent before the massive genocidal “wars” going on across the planet now? How long will we genuflect at the altars of crypto and AI while our security is weakened with grandiose science-fictional ideas of the greedy?
When will the goodness of the God of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam arise from the pathological power grab of national governance? When will you recognize God is one - the universal invisible energy sustaining all life?
So, today, I declare a day of commemoration for the lives of innocents. I honor the pregnant women trying to save their babies from bullets. I recognize the teens who never had the chance to know love or happiness. I pay homage to the elders who died seeing their worlds fall apart. I salute the teachers, doctors, the farmers, and the bakers, the people who simply wanted to live a life of love and happiness.
To all whose lives have been taken without thought of who you were or what you wanted, know, you are not forgotten. Your dreams and wants remain buried in this earth. Our hearts and minds carry the memory of your energy because we are all connected.
